Paintball Fundamentals And Basics

By Mark Tuttle

As a strategic and tactical game to play paintball can be suitably termed as a physical and challenging sport. The players require to use tactics intelligently. A lot of paintball games invite audiences. Paintball can be a very exciting game to watch. Woods, arenas, and fields purposely carved out for playing "rec paintball" are used everyday.

Another name for paintball is known as woodsball as it is played in the woods. For scenario games or war-type games large woodsball fields may be used. Preparation of some woodsball fields is done so as to minimize undergrowth. At one time woodsball can be played by a small or large number of players. Paintball played in arenas or in rec facilities are swifter than this type of Paintball.

Two types of games namely speedball and xball are played in arenas. Arena paintball is played on smaller fields which noticeably are fenced with protective netting to safeguard the spectators from the stray paintballs. Manmade structures may also be a part of these fields sometimes, such as empty utility line spools, bunkers, and inflatable structures.

A field that is empty except for inflatable obstacles and roofless bunkers that are distributed equally on each half of the field is used to play Speedball. For spectators the speedball format is more exciting and for players it is more challenging.

Professional Xball matches last 50 minutes, split into two halves. Amateur Xball games have shorter matches. Xball is a team game with multiple rounds of Center Flag played until the clock runs out. A team which wins a round gets one point. When the clock runs out the team leading with more points is declared as the winning team for the match.

Freeform is the distinguishing trait of Rec style paintball. For playing this paintball fairly open areas covered by manmade structures or bunkers are used. When re-enactment games are played it consists of hundreds of players otherwise can be played by smaller number of people also.

As per the requirement of paintball, teamwork is absolutely essential regardless of the type of game being played. When some team members are moving through the field other players will guard and some will give off cover shots when it is needed. Teamwork is thoroughly supported by communication. - 31489

Taking Care To Play Paintball Safely

By Tony Masters

Let me just start by saying that some may consider this a bold statement about the sport of paintball. Paintball is one of the safest sports as of today although it is classified as an "extreme" sport. It is safe because people are careful and at the same time extreme because of its intensity.

The argument in favor of the reason that paintball games are one of the safest sports is because players take it seriously. Responsibility and accountability should be maintained while playing a good game of painball. Paintball has the potential of being dangerous so the word of the day for you is caution.

The fact that the world of paintball has a huge injury myth has been kept by PSP (Paintball Sports Promotions). This myth only exists in the minds of general public and not in the statistical data. The industry has revealed that the not so common eye injury which has been highly publicized almost always occurs when the proper protective gear in not worn and on fields that are unsupervised and often illegal.

Paintball has the lowest injury rate of any extreme sport. This is supported by statistical data which shows that only .2 injuries per 1,000 exposures ever occur. According to Sporting Goods Manufacturers Association, the average player will suffer an injury about once every 500 years.

Amongst all the gear involved the sport of paintball, goggles are the number one priority. Playing the game can be termed as extremely safe if a regulated field is chosen. Some features of regulated fields are that wearing of goggles is mandatory at all times while on the field and use of barrel plugs or barrel socks are also employed by field owners to block accidental discharge of paintballs from guns (markers) in staging areas.

Paintball is safer than most sports employing proper education and use of the gear in the sport. When comparison is made, other sports includes soccer, tennis and even bowling. I must mention here that this game is played mostly by girls and guys ages between 12-24. My age is 35 and I can't mention how much fun I have when I have the chance to get out there. Age doesn't matter so much if the player is active enough. I have seen guys as old as 45 enjoying the game thoroughly. - 31489
